The climate activist set sail for Gaza with a group of 'celebrities' and aid on May 1

GB News host Andrew Pierce has branded Greta Thunberg "appalling" after her Gaza aid vessel was "intercepted" by Israeli officials.

Climate change advocate Thunberg, 22, set sail for the Gaza Strip with a group of "celebrity" activists on board the British-flagged yacht Madleen, operated by the pro-Palestinian Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC).

Thunberg then released a video claiming she and her crew had been "kidnapped" by Israeli forces, but was seen on the Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) social media accepting some bread from one of the troops.

In a statement, the Ministry said: "While Greta and others attempted to stage a media provocation whose sole purpose was to gain publicity - and which included less than a single truckload of aid - more than 1,200 aid trucks have entered Gaza from Israel within the past two weeks.

"In addition, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has distributed close to 11 million meals directly to civilians in Gaza. There are ways to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip - they do not involve Instagram selfies.

"The tiny amount of aid that was on the yacht and not consumed by the 'celebrities' will be transferred to Gaza through real humanitarian channels."

Discussing the interception on GB News, Britain's Newsroom anchor Andrew Pierce branded Thunberg "appalling".

After watching Thunberg's video where she claimed they were "kidnapped", Andrew jibed: "She's so appalling, isn't she?

"She recorded that bulletin, and she knew they were going to be arrested. She wanted to be arrested."

Citing the statement issued by the Israeli Ministry, Andrew swiped: "I loved the response to the Israeli military, that it is a boat full of virtue signalling, celebrities taking selfies.

"They said you can deliver aid to Gaza, but Instagram selfie boats is not the way to do it."

In a further attack on Thunberg and her aid vessel, Andrew claimed that "a lot of the food" that was taken to give to Gaza was "eaten" by the team.

Andrew told GB News: "By the way, a lot of the food that they were taking into Gaza, they'd eaten. You think I'm joking? They'd eaten it! Did she ever go to school?"

Delivering her verdict on Thunberg, cohost Bev Turner said: "I think derision is the only way you can treat Greta Thunberg.

"She does a very good job of keeping people distracted, doesn't she? She gets rolled out and just makes a lot of fuss.

"Michael Gove and Ed Miliband got absolutely seduced by jumping on the latest bandwagon of what the omni-drama was at the time that you're meant to be jumping on board with. Well, we do not do that here at GB News."
