The Briton has opened up on last year's Wimbledon row

Emma Raducanu has admitted that she still feels bad about last year's Wimbledon mix-up that denied Andy Murray a dream farewell at Centre Court.

The duo had been due to play together but Raducanu was forced to withdraw, citing a sore wrist.

What followed was a huge storm, with many criticising the 22-year-old's decision to focus on her singles bid.

Judy Murray, Andy's mother, dubbed the decision 'astonishing' - with countless others piling in.

Now, speaking as she prepares to play at the French Open for the second time in her career, Raducanu has admitted that she 'still feels bad' about last year's row.

"I hope he's forgiven me for last year," she stated ahead of her showdown with Wang Xinyu on Monday.

"I still feel bad about it."

Raducanu has hired and fired coaches with increasing regularity ever since she defied the odds to win the US Open back in 2021.

She is currently working with Mark Petchey - but that arrangement will end within the next two months.

Murray is a free agent at present, with the three-time Grand Slam winner recently leaving Novak Djokovic's coaching team.

Raducanu, when asked about the prospect of bringing Murray on board, suggested it was unlikely to happen - though did insist she was looking forward to a 'conversation' with him.

“I don’t know. That’s something that’s not been anywhere near my mind," she continued.

"But it was great to see him around again with Novak and it’s tough that’s ended. I’m looking forward to seeing him around and having a conversation.

"“I think he would give great advice. He’s been in a similar situation [to Raducanu herself] and would probably understand a lot of things that I’m also going through."

Raducanu then shed more light on her relationship with Petchey. He is a broadcaster, as well as a coach, meaning that his long-term future is up in the air.

The tennis star added: “It completely depends on the schedule that he gets here.

“I knew that going into it. I think for him it’s a great opportunity to keep doing what he does so well and at the same time have fun hopefully being on court with me.

“I think being a lot more self-sufficient is something Mark has helped me with the last few weeks.

“Since Miami, one thing that is a great sign of a coach is when you don’t necessarily feel like you need them every shot, every point, so he’s really helped me to figure things out for myself.

"When he’s not here on the match court, if I am struggling with something, or I want to ask something tactically or technically, then I’ll just go to Tom [Welsh] or Jane [O'Donoghue].”
